The most effective club to fan engagement happens on multiple levels, fan forums can offer an opportunity for several hundred fans to be involved in a question-and-answer session, up to detailed strategic discussions with club Directors such as with Pompey’s Heritage Advisory Board. We are lucky to support a club whose executive are constantly seeking new ways to involve fans in shaping the way the club operates on a day-to-day basis.
Clearly the main interaction supporters have with the club is on a matchday, hence why the PST approached the club to propose creating a new Matchday Experience Working Group. Following discussions with Andy Cullen and Anna Mitchell we were pleased that the concept had their full support, and we are now looking for applicants to join the working group.
Albeit the PST have volunteered to facilitate the group you do not have to be a PST member to apply, in fact we are keen to create as diverse a group as possible, as well as ensuring representation from different areas of the ground.
We want the group to evolve with the members input but there are a few key pointers which we can outline now.
- The number of members will be limited to ensure constructive dialogue
- The group will aim to meet at Fratton Park in the evenings between 18:00-20:00.
- The group should have a mix of season ticket holders and casual match goers
- The group should be diverse but representative of the fanbase, including all age groups that attend games and those that come alone, with friends or as a family group
- The group should include people who typically watch from all sides of Fratton Park
The Matchday Experience Working Group will examine all aspects of fans’ contact with the club from buying tickets, to travelling to the game, to the experience in the stadium and interaction with club staff. It will aim to find ways to improve each element of the experience and ultimately make matchdays more enjoyable and more attractive for fans to come to.
To keep fans in the loop there will be regular reports following the meetings, with particular focus given to changes the club have made following input from the working group.
If you are interested in taking part, please email [email protected] by 19th April with a brief description of who you are, your age, details about how often you watch Pompey and from which part of the ground you typically go. We can’t guarantee everyone who responds will be involved but we will be sure to respond.
