We were delighted to be able to welcome shareholders and competition winners Darren Bayley and Stuart Hardman to Essex yesterday, to spend a day with Andy Awford and the squad as they prepared for yesterday evening’s match against Thurrock.
Their day started at 10.30am as Stuart and Darren enjoyed watching the morning training session in the searing heat at the Five Lakes complex just outside Colchester. A light lunch with the management team followed before we all had some downtime before reconvening at 4pm for a pre match meal.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly sitting in on Andy Awford’s pre match briefing at 5pm – an eye opening experience that really showed how passionate and motivated to succeed Andy, his management team and the squad are. A one hour trip to Ship Lane, Thurrock, followed before watching the squad put into practice training drills from earlier in the day and easing past our opponents 2-0.
All in all it was a fantastic day and we are very grateful to Andy Awford, Mark Catlin and the whole squad for being so accommodating.
