One year ago Ken Malley created the Pompey Supporters Trust - Youth Committee to give younger Pompey fans a say in how the Trust works and also influence PCFC.
As you will know Ken sadly passed away in the summer and new Board Member Scott Mclachlan has taken up the job of re-convening the Committee and to put together a large group of dedicated and active young members.
Primarily the group will continue with Ken's ideas and focus on how it can attract younger fans to both attend matches at Fratton Park and also engage with younger fans to get them involved with the PST and become members.
We would like to stress that you DO NOT have to be an existing member to volunteer to help the Committee. It is also to be stressed that the group is to be given an opportunity to be autonomous and once a member of the group is chosen they will sit on the PST Board and take part in all the PST work that is being done, plus have some inside knowledge and input into how PFC runs. It's an exciting challenge for anyone and we hope that many young fans consider getting involved in some way.
The person leading the group will ideally have the following attributes:
-
A few hours a week spare time to organise the group.
-
Must be 16 or over.
-
Decent literacy level
-
Able to organise and manage a small team
-
Be able to handle any media duties
Don't be put off by some of those, you will be given as much help as you need by the PST Board.
Hopefully we can have someone co-opted to the Board before the end of the year. Please take some time to listen to PST Chair Ashley Brown in his first interview on our new YouTube channel (please subscribe) and you'll see he is fully behind getting younger people involved in Pompey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCdAACyOzW0
Please also indicate that if you are unsuccessful in your application to the Committee that you would still be keen to be involved as part of any sub-groups created to achieve the groups aims.
Best wishes and good luck!
The PST Board.
