The Pompey Supporters Trust has set the pace for what can be achieved by trusts in the United Kingdom. Albeit a number of clubs became supporter owned before Pompey none have tackled the problems we did, nor raise the level of funds that we required to acquire the club. The support the Trust receives from Pompey fans around the globe continues to be tremendous, whether it be through share acquisition, share syndication or membership. It’s incredible to think that the PST was only founded in 2009 and that after a little more than 3 years it became the majority owner of Portsmouth Football Club. Perhaps less incredible when you consider the passion and commitment that as Pompey fans we all show for our club.
Although the PST is no longer an owner it still has a major role to play in the future of our club and the direction it takes. Being a member means we can communicate effectively with more of our fan base, we recognise fans come from a variety of backgrounds and geographies and we want to hear from you all.
As a member you will receive regular updates regarding both the PST and PFC, you’ll be able to attend certain events and of course you’ll get a chance to influence direction by voting on both the board members and specific policy items. However it is of course about more than benefits and influence – it’s about being part of your club and your supporters Trust.
Although we try to keep membership cost low, we do need to charge something as the trust has significant administration costs to meet on an annual basis. All of your funds are used wisely, something shown in our annual audited accounts which are freely available to view.
Going forward the PST is keen to not just shape a positive future for PFC but also to take every opportunity to shape the direction in which the professional football game moves. We’ve earned our place at the table of the football governing bodies and intend to ensure that supporter views are properly represented. Furthermore we’ll continue our work along side Supporters Direct lobbying Parliament regarding the key issues.
