Secretary (Officer of PST)
Mark graduated from the University of Essex in 1990 with a BA (Hons) Government & Sociology; and subsequently gained a PhD (Political Sociology) from Nottingham Trent University. He was elected to the PST Board in September 2013; and took up the governance portfolio thereafter. PST subsequently adopted a new constitution and five side policies (Board Membership and Conduct Policy, Disciplinary Policy, Election Policy, PST Board and Club Board Policy, Social Media Policy) on the 15th March 2015. Mark stood down from the Board in September 2014; and is currently the PST Secretary. The PST Secretary has defined responsibilities;
- To act as Secretary to the Society Board;
- Attend all meetings of the Society Board;
- Act as Secretary of any subsidiary company or society of the Society;
- Summon and attend all general meetings of the Society and be responsible for keeping the minutes;
- Be responsible for keeping the register of members and other registers required to be kept by the Rules (constitution);
- Monitoring the conduct of the Society’s affairs to ensure that it is conducted in accordance with the Rules;
- Arrange for Society Board Members to obtain independent legal, accounting tax or other professional advice if appropriate;
- Publish to members in an appropriate form information which the Secretary in his or her discretion or the Society Board shall direct members should have about the affairs of the Society;
- Prepare and send all returns required to be made to the Registrar of the Financial Conduct Authority.
